First things first: I reserved my spot at the 2013 Circuit of the Americas V8 Supercar race.

I gave in and purchased the reserved seats: Figured that I did not want to be responsible for a chair or reserving my place. Turn 15, section 10 is where I will soak up most of the racing. When more information becomes available, such as pit pass availability, we will keep you updated here at Club Dirty Auto.

The big news is the unveiling of the 2013 Nissan Altima Race car for the V8 Supercars. It will be a rear wheel drive (obviously, and thankfully), and powered by Nissan's VK56DE. To accommodate with the V8 SC regulations, the 5.6 liter engine was downsized to a 5 liter. Even with the size reduction power output was raised to over 600 horsepower (Autoblog.com).

Check out the official unveiling video for more looks of the car!

Look out for this car in 2013 to be sponsored and wrapped by Jack Daniels, Kelly racing's major sponsor.

And finally, check out this crash at the 2012 Gold Coast 600 from September 20th, 2012. More angles and an in-depth look of the crash are found later in this video, after the half-way mark.

The Gold Coast 600 is an endurance race requiring an international co-driver for each vehicle. The co-drivers must be the drivers to start the race, which is from a standstill. Discussion and controversy has come from the crash, questioning the reasoning for the international drivers who are unfamiliar with starting the V8 Supercars from a dead stop. The race was halted and started the same way for a second time, resulting in a less serious crash. Third time was the charm, having no crashes at the start to kick off the race. Only minor injuries resulted from the crash.

The next V8 supercar race takes the series to Abu Dhabi November 2-4, 2012.
